The
man pictured above is being accused of sexually abusing his own 5 year old
daughter (pictured right). It was said to have happened in the Italuwo
community in Ikorodu Road, Lagos. According to a source, a neighbor suspected
the man had been assaulting the little girl and alerted people in the area.
When confronted, he denied it but the girl confirmed she had been molested. He
was beaten and taken to the community security post. This pic was taken as he
was being interrogated. Details later.
If
this is TRUE, it is not going to be the first; neither is it going to be the
last no matter how much we pray. Nobody has been able to give the main reason
behind the acts according to how pedophiles get the urge to go for under aged
people they go after, just to satisfy the urge whenever it comes. Truth is, these abusers
usually come in the form of a trusted uncle, father, brother, guardian, family friend, teacher,
neighbor, driver, gate-man and even sometimes leaders which could be a pastor or
otherwise. Good parents, Guardians, Teachers and adults should be generally
burdened with the safety of children whether they are related to them or not
because when these children eventually grow up, it is their childhood experiences that
will determine the kind of adult that they will become in future. In my own opinion,
there is an atom of truth to what this man has been alleged of especially if
the mother of the child is out of reach or if he is of an impoverished uneducated
mind. He doesn’t know better. I hope the government takes custody of the
child-victim because any attempt to reconcile her back with this man, will
bring about repeated abuse, which she will eventually get used to.
