Lagos Woman Slices Step Daughter's Buttocks With Hot Knife.

A 29-year old woman, Lucy Samuel was arrested by the police for allegedly maltreating her step-daughter - Joan Samuel who is only 15 years old, by slicing her buttock with a hot knife in at 14/16 Isheri Oshun road Bucknor in Ejigbo, Lagos state, Southwest of Nigeria. The woman was charged before the Magistrate’s court, at Isolo with the alleged offence after she inflicted injury on the victim. Lucy reportedly took her kitchen knife and put it in a burning stove till it turned red; she then took off Joan’s cloth and used the knife to sliced her bottom, stomach and laps.

Police sources says that Lucy was not happy with Joan staying with her and her husband – Mr. Samuel ever since Joan’s mother was sent parking even though Lucy also thought that Joan was a threat to her marriage. Her unpleasant attitude towards the girl was noticed by neighbors who alerted the police shortly after Lucy had cut Joan. The woman was arrested and charged to court with grievous harm under the Criminal Code. When arraigned, she pleaded “not guilty”. The presiding Magistrate granted her bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. She is being remanded in prison custody, pending when she fulfills her bail terms and condition.

This kind of Abuse is a multiple one that is definitely going to leave the victim a life time scar both physically and psychologically and no matter what she might have done wrong, this act of wickedness by a step-mother wouldn’t have solved the problem. It is not about getting justice alone but also making sure that the victim gets all forms of therapy for proper rehabilitation. Let us all make an effort to reduce abuse in our societies.
